Brief Mission Statement:

The Mission of First Presbyterian Church in Raton is to use the teachings of the Bible: to know God, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit; to strengthen and lead our congregation in common ministry to each other and neighbors needing comfort and spiritual enlightenment; to be examples to the community as disciples of Christ; and to be active in the mission of God’s Church.

Mission Plan:

The Mission Plan for the congregation to implement the Church’s Mission Statement is:

1. to know God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit by hearing the Word, studying the Scriptures, the Confessions, the identity of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and celebrating the Sacraments.

2. to grow stronger in common ministry, enjoying special services during religious seasons, reviving Sunday school, Bible study, Elder training, and care for congregation and for shut-ins.

3. to celebrate worship services with varieties of music and liturgies, providing Lay Readers and acolytes, rebuilding the music department, and fostering congregational gatherings.

4. to minister to neighbors needing comfort and spiritual guidance, encouraging visitors to return and new members to participate, providing counseling for congregants and friends.

5. to be active in the mission of God’s Church by continuing existing projects, and by contributing funds and assisting with the Hunger Pantry, by directed giving from Endowment Funds, and accepting special offerings.
